The architectural work for the Tacoma Dome was done by the international design winning architects, McGranahan and Messenger Associates. The arena underwent a major renovation in the year 2018. It is under the ownership as well as operated by the City of Tacoma. The arena was opened to the public on April 21, 1983, bearing a construction cost of $44 million.
The capacity of the venue is 5,000 – 23,000, which is distributed as follows 20,824 – Indoor soccer, 20,722 – Basketball, 19,106 – Hockey, and 10,000 – American football.
